Artist and studio

Mummatto is made in Finland, Northern Europe, on a traditional local loom. The techniques come from previous generations and stay in daily use, rather than sitting as heritage on a shelf.

The studio exists so textile art can live on the floor. Each composition is meant to be walked on, sat beside, and kept close. It is not furniture, and it is not only for looking.

Artist-weaver

Tuuli Mummatto is a Finnish artist-weaver whose practice sits between craft, daily use, and fine art. Her work grows from Northern European textile traditions and the quiet confidence of Nordic design.

She weaves every composition herself. The studio is small on purpose: fewer than twenty pieces a year, so each work can keep her attention from warping through to the finished floor.

Questions about the studio

How long does it take to weave a textile artwork?

Each composition takes several days to weave, then finishing and checks. Total time depends on size and complexity. Every piece is woven with patience and care.

Can I request a custom size or colour scheme?

Yes. Every design can serve as a reference for a made-to-order piece. You can request a custom size while preserving the visual language and colour palette of the original.

Are the artworks ONE OF ONE, or can they be ordered more than once?

Available works are ONE OF ONE. They are singular originals. Made-to-order pieces follow the artist’s visual language but are not exact copies, because upcycled fabrics always vary.

How are the artworks shipped?

Each artwork is carefully rolled and packaged for safe delivery. Flat-rate shipping is available to 21 EU countries, with lead times shared before a made-to-order confirmation.

What materials do you use?

All works are handwoven from cotton and upcycled fabrics sourced with care. The materials are washed, cut, and organized by colour before weaving begins.
