Are all Mummatto rugs unique?
Yes. Each rug is handwoven in Finland, composed layer by layer. The textiles used as materials, and consequently the overall coloring, vary. Custom-woven pieces follow the visual shapes, textures, and color palettes of the reference images without being exact copies.
How long does the delivery of a commissioned piece take?
Production times reflect the artist's annual capacity. Rugs that are 50-70 cm wide are completed in about three months. The delivery time for 80-90 cm wide rugs is up to 6 months. Tuuli weaves fewer than twenty pieces a year.
Can I request a custom size or color scheme?
Yes. Any design can serve as a reference for a custom size and color palette, respecting the artist's visual language. Tuuli selects the materials according to your wishes and creative intent. Get in touch at tuuli@mummatto.com
How do I care for my Mummatto rug?
We recommend regular, light vacuuming while avoiding friction (floor nozzle in the brushless position). Promptly washing stains extends the lifespan of the rug. The rugs are two-sided, which also extends the time between washes. Gentle flat wash, preferably without a brush, in the direction of the stripes with cold water (approx. 20°C); no soaking. Dry in a well-ventilated space, preferably horizontally or hung so it does not drip, along the direction of the stripes. Dyed textiles may bleed color.
Where is Mummatto made?
All pieces are designed and handwoven in Finland using traditional looms. The studio produces fewer than twenty pieces a year.
