Introduction

All compositions are handwoven in Finland, Northern Europe, on a traditional local loom, using techniques inherited from previous generations.

Here is how one composition is designed and made.

Hands warping a wooden loom with tensioned threads.

Warping

A new artwork begins by warping the loom to a chosen width and length. This usually takes a day. Whether I weave to order or from pure inspiration, I already hold a colour scheme in mind.

Organized piles of fabric strips sorted by colour on a studio table.

Materials

Then I search, wash, iron, cut, and organize suitable weft fabrics. I also keep a collection of beautiful fabrics in the studio, sorted by colour. As the materials and combinations come together, I feel ready and eager to begin weaving.

Weaving

When I finally sit at the loom and begin weaving, the feeling is quiet and focused. What I have been imagining for days starts to appear in the cloth. Layer by layer, I choose which colour and shade comes next. The making is slow and satisfying. For me it is a play of colours I can step into.

Finished textile artwork unrolled on a light wood floor.

Rolling off

After days at the loom, curiosity grows about how the finished artwork will look. When I roll the fabric off and throw it onto the floor for the whole family to see, I feel I have given everything. Every project is a source of joy. Inspiration, passion, and care go into the work, and I trust some of that warmth travels with the finished piece to you.

Questions about the process

How long does it take to weave one artwork?

Each artwork takes several days to weave, depending on size and complexity. The full process from warping to finishing typically spans weeks, not days.

Are all materials upcycled?

Yes. All artworks use cotton and upcycled fabrics sourced and prepared in the studio. Each fabric strip is washed, ironed, and cut by hand.

Can I request a custom size?

Yes. Every design can serve as a reference for custom sizes in the same visual language. Lead times depend on the chosen width and length.

Is each piece truly ONE OF ONE?

Yes. Upcycled materials mean no two pieces are identical. Even made-to-order works follow the visual language without exact replication.

Where are the artworks woven?

All compositions are handwoven in Finland by artist-weaver Tuuli, using a traditional local loom and techniques passed down through generations.
